Is the employment condition fulfilled in light entrepreneurship?

Does light entrepreneurship count light entrepreneurship ? Read about how the employment condition is met by part-time and full-time light entrepreneurs.

The employment condition is the rule that determines whether you are eligible for earnings-related daily allowance. For light entrepreneurs, the situation depends on whether you are considered an employee or an entrepreneur in terms of unemployment security.

How is the condition fulfilled?

  • Part-time light entrepreneur: If you are in paid employment and do freelance work on the side, your paid employment will count toward your employment condition as normal.
  • Full-time light entrepreneur: If you are fully self-employed as a light entrepreneur, you should take out YEL insurance and join an entrepreneurs' fund. This will allow you to accumulate the entrepreneur's employment condition (requires at least 15 months of activity).

If you only do occasional, small jobs without YEL insurance, they do not usually count toward the employment condition, but you may be eligible for Kela's labor market subsidy.
