Use of substitutes and taxation

Handling taxes when you have a substitute.

As a Wolt partner, you can hire a substitute to help you. When you split your earnings with your substitute through Truster, your taxes are handled automatically.

How it works

When you split a bill in the app, our system divides the total and handles the tax calculations for both parties.

  1. Invoice is coming: Wolt sends us information about the deliveries made through your account. We generate the invoice based on that information.
  2. Here's how to split the bill: Open Truster, tap the bill, tap "Split Bill," and select the percentage (%) that goes to your friend.
  3. We'll take care of the rest: The funds and taxes are automatically distributed according to the invoice breakdown.

The two most common situations

The substitute did all the work (100%)

You were off duty and a substitute handled the driving. You transfer the entire invoice (100%) to the substitute in the application.

  • For you: $0 income → $0 taxes. The invoice itself is your company's income, and the expense = result 0.
  • For the substitute: The substitute receives the full amount and pays tax on it according to their own tax rate.

You split the work equally (e.g., 50/50)

We split the shifts in half. You transfer half (50%) of the bill to the substitute.

  • You only pay taxes on the portion you kept for yourself.
  • The substitute pays taxes on their own share.

Important tip: Pay close attention to the percentages!

Once you accept the distribution in the app, it is final. So always double-check that the percentage is correct before pressing "Confirm."

  • If the distribution is incorrect, it must be corrected manually in the accounting records.
  • Manually correcting an incorrect allocation is time-consuming and subject to a separate service fee.
