Starting to use the business name service

Order the service from the app and grant Suomi.fi authorizations.

Pro Light our sole proprietorship service; once activated, you can invoice through us as a sole proprietor using your own business ID.

Subscription

Open Truster, select " Subscription " on the home screen, and then select Pro Light. This will activate your subscription, which involves a few steps before your business name service is activated.

Personal authority

After you place your order, we will send you an authorization request via the suomi.fi service. This authorization serves as your electronic permission for us to either register a business ID for you (if you don’t already have one) or import your existing business ID into our system.

If you already have a Business ID, our system will automatically retrieve it after you place your order and grant authorization. We will not issue a new Business ID for you. If your Business ID is not listed in the Withholding Tax Register and/or registered as subject to VAT, we will do so when you place your order.

To grant personal authorization, go to the suomi.fi service and approve the pending authorization request. You can find illustrated instructions for granting personal authorization here.

Waiting

Opening a new business ID typically takes 1–2 business days, whereas re-registering an existing business ID can take 3–4 weeks.

During the ordering process, we’ll send you status updates to the “Tasks” section on the app’s home screen, so you’ll always stay up to date on the progress of your order.

Corporate Powers

Toward the end of the order process, we will ask you for additional authorization. This authorization request is addressed to your company and is required so that we can file your company’s legally required reports with the Tax Administration. If we do not have the necessary company authorization, we will not be able to file your VAT return.

How much does the service cost?

The base feeLightPro Light is 3.99% per invoice. This means the service fee is charged only when you have invoices. There are no fixed costs or hidden fees.

If the customer you are invoicing has a partnership agreement with us, the separately agreed pricing will be automatically applied to your invoice.

What does the service include?

Billing and Payments: We send the invoices you create to your customers and reconcile incoming payments. We pay you the amount of the invoice excluding VAT and deduct taxes, our service fee, and any other applicable deductions (YEL, garnishments) on your behalf. If your customer has a partnership agreement with us, we will also create invoices on your behalf.

Bookkeeping: We perform single-entry bookkeeping based on the receipts and invoices you have submitted to our system.

Mandatory Filings: We submit and pay VAT returns and business tax returns for sole proprietorships to the Tax Administration based on the information you provide. We withhold the VAT portion from your invoices. We report and pay this to the Tax Administration based on your tax period, so the amount payable to you (personal withdrawal) is fully available to you—you do not need to worry about paying the VAT portion later.

Paying Taxes: We deduct the amount calculated based on the tax rate you set in the app from your invoice and pay the total amount collected during the year to the Tax Administration as an additional advance payment at the beginning of the year. What is the entrepreneur responsible for in this service?

Submitting Documents: Upload all receipts related to your business activities using the app’s receipt scanner. If you have sales outside of our service, please submit these invoices to us via the Support Requests section.

Taking out YEL insurance: Keep track of your earned income and take out YEL insurance once you exceed the statutory threshold. We do not apply for this on your behalf. You can take out insurance through our service, in which case our partner Ilmarinen will send your invoice to us and we will automatically deduct the payments from your invoice.

Maintaining Licenses and Certifications: You are responsible for customer acquisition, pricing, and ensuring that the licenses required by law in your field (e.g., hygiene certificate, taxi license) remain valid.

Personal Taxation: It is your responsibility to update your personal tax card and make the final payment of your personal taxes. We will handle the business-related portion based on the information you provide.
